Pregame Review

If you didn't know, Bravely Default was actually released in japan under the name Bravely Default: Flying Fairy which is pretty much a spin-off of the Final Fantasy series. The funny thing is that I read somewhere online that they were considering changing the name to Final Fantasy but due to how popular it grew to news of the localization, they just kept it as is. Bravely Default? What does that even mean?

Well if you played the demo you pretty much get it within the first few battles. BP or "Brave Points" are used to act up to 3 additional turns. You can also use Brave Points to use powerful skills which require a certain amount of BPs to cast. Using more BPs than you have will put you in the negatives which will make you unable to act for that amount of turns. Default on the other hand, to explain it plainly is the way to stock up on BPs. Choosing to default not only gets you 1 Brave Point and it also increases your defenses from attacks. But heres the kicker... Monsters can use BP and default too!

Now for the Job/Class System. How can you not love it? It is kinda like Final Fantasy Tactics where you can make the character into a certain class and have a sub-class with access to its abilities. Each Class has it's own access to certain abilities which you can unlock once your job level increases.
In the Demo version you could only got limited number of skills(max 4 irrc) and jobs. I'm so excited that I have access to everything now!

The character design is pretty much FF9ish in-game chibi-awesomeness if your into that kind of thing! It brings back memories of Zidane and Garnet's soft bum. He.. He.. The game has a lot of eye candy to offer and was even censored a bit for localization. The only weird thing is that the game art isn't as consistent game wise. Don't get me wrong, I like both chibi and full size Agnes but I just prefer it were consistent with the battles and story lines in appearance. Make sense?

I pretty much have game character crush on Hot full size Agnes obviously, last one one was advent children Tifa! I guess I have a thing for brunettes. Lightning was kinda meh honestly.

At first glance the game looks pretty good with a semi-new combat system, deep class system with an artsy finish. I am honestly excited about this one since this is pretty much my Final Fantasy JRPG comeback since FFX-2. Now I got to play it!
