Top 7 Games that defined my Childhood PART 3

6. Final Fantasy Tactics (1998)

final fantasy tactics

The story's setting is in Ivalice right after the war between two nations called the "50 year war". The kingdom suffered a financial hit due to this and to make matters worse, their king is fatally ill. This means leaving two heirs to the throne, Princess Ovelia and his infant brother Prince Orinus. Queen Ruvelia during the years, gave birth to 2 sons but they both died after child birth. She then adopted Princess Ovelia of noble blood until she miraculously gave birth to Prince Orinus. The King dies and it starts a new war on who the rightful heir to the throne is. One side picks Ovelia and the other picks Orinus which has his uncle Larg as regent until he comes to age. This starts the "Lion War".

Now that I look at it, it looks kind of like Game of Thrones doesn't it. They are all fighting for power which is to be king/queen of Ivalice. This game has one of the richest stories with all the plotting for the crown, deceit, assassinations and  surprises. First you think one thing and then the game plays out and it is another which is just awesome! This is one of those games that I loved so much but never got to finish due to how much character customization it had from gear, stats, skills and job classes. It is a great game to play and indulge in. You can also play the kind of remastered version on the PSP called: Final Fantasy: War of the Lions.

7. Ragnarok Online (2002)

ragnarok online

History states that once upon a time Gods, Monsters and Humans went to war with each other and after years of battling they decided on a truce to keep the realm at balance. 1000 years to present time Rune Midgard has been seeing mass gathering of hostile monsters around there cities. This may be due to a truce broken by Humans due to their selfishness and brutality against nature. There have been recent attacks on people around the realm from these monsters and it caused a stir across the lands. Noticing a new war upcoming, the cities and states decided to train citizens to be prepared for a war between gods and monsters.

This game is really the reason I got into MMORPGs. Yes it is typically a grind since you really have no need to go through any story quests other than your job change quests but that is what I liked about it. Bashing monsters until you hit max level appealed to me and maybe a couple of you guys too. It is really fast paced due to how you can spam most skills without any cooldowns. I loved the cute character designs and most importantly the character stat and equipment customization. I could go on and on about builds and stuff which is why I made a niche website on it.
